2004 Porsche 911 GT3

Seller's description

The Porsche 911 GT3 is a high performance version of the Porsche 911 sports car primarily intended for racing. It is a line of high-performance models, which began with the 1973 911 Carrera RS. The GT3 is named after the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Group GT3 class in which it was designed to compete.
A number of variations, designed for road and track duty, have been introduced since its launch in 1999. More than 14,000 911 GT3 cars have been produced.
The GT3 has had a successful racing career in the one-make national Porsche Carrera Cup series, and the international Porsche Supercup. It has won championship and endurance races, including the GT class of the American Le Mans Series seven times, first overall in the 24 Hours of Daytona, and first overall at the 24 Hours Nürburgring six times.
The 2nd generation 996 GT3 received a 21hp power hike with the 3.6-litre engine now producing 381bhp. Suspension was lowered and uprated and ceramic brakes optional. Front and rear bumpers were re-designed as well as the side skirts and ‘tea tray’ rear wing.

EQUIPMENT

Crested Bucket seats in leather, Litronic (Xenon) headlights, Porsche CDR 23 Radio w/CD player, Top tint windscreen, Electric heated door mirrors. Headlight cleaning system

EXTERIOR

This undoubtedly striking GT3 was factory supplied in the seemingly fitting colour for this race bred Porsche – Speed Yellow. Paintwork remains in excellent all round condition, with the vulnerable front splitter showing only the lightest signs of use.
Lights, trim and badges are all presented in perfect condition showing minimal wear over its life.

INTERIOR

Porsche have mastered what is notoriously difficult to do, combining track focused performance and precision with road usability.
Synonymous with this era of Porsche, the crested leather bucket seats are in perfect condition with no wear marks or tears and hug both driver and passenger tight into the seat.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The 3.6-litre flat-six starts with an initial burst of energy and then clatters and rattles to a purposeful idle. The move to fly-by-wire throttle transforms the feel of the flat 6, with mid-range immeasurably improved over the 1st generation car.
The gearbox offers its familiar resistance from cold although once warmed feels slick and intuitive – perfectly matched to the improved performance of the engine.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

These unmarked lightweight alloys look stunning in sparkling silver, offsetting the Speed Yellow bodywork perfectly. Wrapped in matching N rated Michelin Pilot Sport rubber, with all tyres showing plenty of tread.
Braking performance is significantly improved and much more feelsome thanks to 6 piston calipers at the front of the car. The signature Porsche red calipers show particularly well gleaming through the spokes, with discs and pads showing plenty of life and cross drilled openings free of pad deposits.

HISTORY FILE

This bold Speed Yellow GT3 has enjoyed a regular service routine with intervals at 4, 9, 13, 20, 26, 27 and 28,000kms; confirmed by both invoicing and entries in the service book.
