Seller's description

Clifford Alarm, Koni adjustable hydraulic damper system, Electric windows, Electric door mirrors, Leather luggage straps, Oil Temp gauge, Oil pressure gauge, Voltmeter, Spare wheel, Heated rear screen.
EXTERIOR
The SV was nicknamed Il Mostro, or the Monster, due to its angular thermoplastic injection-moulded composite body panels creating a unique profile that is as divisive now as it was at launch against the likes of the Ford Sierra and W124 Mercedes. The porous nature of the composite bodywork can become problematic over time but this example enjoyed the benefit of a panel off overhaul in 2007. The deep, wide front end housing the hallmark trio of headlights appears pleasingly clean with the huge high shoulder flanks presenting straight and true. Whilst the rear spoiler lacquer has dulled somewhat, the grey top tier roof and pillars show well.
The squat, purposeful and downright pugnacious styling is rightly finding it’s place amongst the much lauded 90′s sports elite.
INTERIOR
Sporting a much more conventional arrangement, the cabin provides a luxurious appointment of soft tan leather that meets a wrap around dash finished off by a timeless MOMO centre piece. Vision is excellent as glass dominates the top of the car; promoting an airy and spacious feel beyond the dimensions on offer. Ergonomics have clearly been well thought out with all key switches and dials within easy reach / line of sight whilst the contrasting black leather breaks up the tan rich environment. The rear storage area looks to be in fine condition, with stitched leather straps and carpet area appearing unused.
Seats have survived beautifully, with no significant wear or distortion to note, whilst door cards and headlining present remarkably well. A subtle grab handle offers the passenger further support should the dynamics demand!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Mechanically the SZ was based on Alfa Romeo’s 75 America production model with the 3.0 litre V6 light alloy engine tuned by Alfa’s motor sport department Alfa Corse. The engine’s compression ratio was enlarged to 10:1, the double overhead camshafts received a sharper cam profile and the Bosch Motronic engine management system was reprogrammed with subsequent output now raised at least 20 hp to 210 hp. The sonorous V6 is in fine fettle; a broad spread of torque contributing to generous performance whether at cruise or pressing on.
Alfa’s competition department were also let loose on the handling; the underpinnings of racing Group A/IMSA Alfa 75s were used as a basis for the suspension geometry.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 10 hole split rims by Speedline present beautifully, providing a spectacular design against the unique bodywork. The continuation of the pepperpot theme seen on previous models survives up to this day – a design that has spanned generations that is synonymous with the marque.
Matching Pirelli P Zero Nero rubber ensures that the handling is at it’s best; plenty of tread remains on all four corners.
HISTORY FILE
This Zagato was registered in the UK from new, a rarity in itself, with Mario Dellotti Ltd of Birmingham handing over the car on the 1st March 1991.
The car has enjoyed long term current ownership over the last 18 years and the paperwork trail testifies to a myriad of paperwork displaying invoices for work carried out with Alfa Tech, the Italian Connection at Kinghams and latterly RS cars of Bedfordshire.
The original owners manual and stamped service book feature in the history file alongside every MOT certificate from new, with the spare key and official S.Z. Press catalogue also present and correct.
The desirable registration mark SZ 1100 is included in the sale.
Please visit our website for a full write up and additional photographs.
