Sold new in 1968 to Taki Racing in Japan chassis SL73/130 competed in several races including ’68 Japan GP meeting. Having been retired from contemporary racing in 1971 the car was sold on behalf of Fuji Co Racing by Carl Haas, the US Lola agent. Corvette Works Inc bought the car and kept it until a change of racing plans led them to sell in 1978 to Mac McClendon of McClendon Enterprises Racing who rebuilt the car as a spyder for a customer. It was exported to New Zealand in 2004. The car was race prepped and received local racing papers from Canterbury Car Club. In 2007 the car was sold to UK and onto its current owner. The car was then rebuilt to coupe spec and prepared for historic racing by marque expert and ex Lola employee Clive Robinson. Completed in September 2009 the car was entered into a CER race at Silverstone where it unfortunately suffered a DNF whilst leading its class. 2010 the car was issued with FIA HTP and in the Silverstone Classic the car qualified 2nd behind a Mk3B with a lap time of 1 min 53.975 seconds, a 100.22 mph average. 2011 Donington Festival the car qualified and finished 1st in Pre-72 Sportscar Race. Last out in 2013 Silverstone Classic where it finished 4th. The subject of an extensive article in Octane April 2010 where it was driven by Mark Hales and accompanied with numerous period magazine articles and images from its racing in Japan in 1968 this car is ready to be refreshed and raced again this year. The car is also UK road registered so can be driven in road events.
