1999 MV Agusta F4 Oro
Seller's description
Designed by Massimo Tamburini at the CRC (Cagiva Research Centre) in San Marino, the MV Agusta F4 relaunched the legendary brand in 1998.
Released in May 1999 the Serie Oro was limited to 300 examples and was the first of the F4 series. The word ‘Oro’ is Italian for gold thus magnesium parts such as swingarm, frame side plates and wheels were anodized gold. Weighing only 180 Kilograms the painted body panels, fairings, seat cover, front mud guard, fuel tank and air box were made from carbonfibre which produced an excellent power to weight ratio.
The four-stroke engine was a liquid-cooled 750 cc inline four-cylinder double overhead camshaft unit that produced 126 bhp at 12,200 rpm. The design is a derivative of the 1990–1992 Ferrari Formula One engine with unique radial valves - Ferrari engineers assisted in the engine’s development. The F4 Serie Oro was specified with Weber Marelli Multipoint fuel injection, six-speed gearbox, 49 mm Showa USD forks (with fast detach axle clamps), rear swing arm and Sachs fully adjustable rear shock, and steel disc brakes with Nissin six piston (front) and 4 piston (rear) brake calipers.
The example presented here is number #300 of 300 and therefore the last example produced. In fact Oro number 000300 was part of MV Agusta saviour Claudio Castiglioni’s own personal collection and was proudly placed on display in his office. Displaying just 7 km on the odometer, it has recently received a full service including oil, battery and spark plugs and starts on the button. The pinnacle of sport bikes from the modern ear, one should bear in mind that the cost price in 1999 was circa 48,000 euros – further enhancing its exclusivity.
