1967 MG C GTS Sebring by MG Motorsport
Seller's description
This is an exact copy of the original MGC GTS Sebring race cars, as used by the Abingdon Works racing team to participate in the Targa Florio, Marathon de la Route and Sebring 12 hours. The car is nut-and-bolt restored by MG Motorsport, probably the most well known specialist for racing MG's. The engine is completely overhauled and tuned, and is equiped with triple Weber 45DCOE carburetors. The Peter Burgess cylinder head and MGM5C camshafts are also part of the performance package, together with the Maniflow inlet manifolds and 6-branch twin pipe sports exhaust. The engine is dynoed at 195 bhp at 5200 rpm, which is sufficient for this lightweight sportscar. It also has a Quaife ATB differential, and sits on competition wire wheels in the size 6x15 as used on the AC Cobra 289. The tyres are Avon CR6ZZ in 205/70R15 size, which are the perfect choice for both road and track use. For sure, building an MGC to a similar specification will cost much more then the asking price.
As one can expect, the performance of this rare car is superb. I have used the car for long trips to Goodwood, a couple of track days and some historic rally's, and the MGC didn't miss a beat. This is a very reliable and fast car, and it shows what a great potential the original Sebring cars had. Unfortunately the BMC Competition department had a limited budget, and the MGC GTS program was axed.
This example, which is finished in stunning Aston Martin Racing Green, looks and feels like a proper sixties competition car. It offers an unbelievable driving experience, with a glorious soundtrack as a big bonus ! It is a fantastic machine to participate in historic rally's or just for having some fun on the road. Although not a car for the faint hearted, it is a very entertaining package for every sixties sport car enthusiast. I have enjoyed this MGC GTS for a couple of years by myself, but now I have decided to sell it to make space for another exciting classic sport car. Something for you maybe ?
