2011 Ferrari 599 GTO

Seller's description

The Ferrari 599 (internal code F141) is an Italian sports car produced by Ferrari. It was the brand’s two-seat flagship, replacing the 575M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model, but was replaced for the 2013 model year by the F12berlinetta.
Styled by Pininfarina under the direction of Ferrari’s Frank Stephenson, the 599 GTB debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006. It is named for its total engine displacement (5999 cc), Gran Turismo Berlinetta nature, and the Fiorano Circuit test track used by Ferrari.
On 8 April 2010, Ferrari announced official details of the 599 GTO. The car is a road-going version of the 599XX and at the time Ferrari claimed that the 599 GTO was their fastest ever road car, able to lap the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 24 seconds, one second faster than the Ferrari Enzo!. Its engine produces 661 bhp at 8250 rpm, with 460 lb·ft of torque at 6500 rpm. At 1,605 kilograms the 599 GTO weighs almost 100 kg less than the standard GTB.

The 6.0-litre V12 has ‘diamond-like carbon coating’ on the tappets and there’s plenty of ‘super polishing’  too, these modifications, among others, increase efficiency of the engine by 12 per cent. Compression rises from 11.2 to 11.9 through a redesigned crank and pistons and the breathing has been completely overhauled to include a new aluminium intake system that uses shorter runners and saves 2kg. The exhaust system is hydroformed – effectively blown into shape, thereby avoiding the heavy seams that come with even the best welding. The process thins the metal from 1.5mm to 0.8mm and saves a remarkable 15kg over a standard system.
New springs, dampers, electronic systems and a new generation of carbon-ceramic brakes compliment wider wheels all round, the fronts carrying a huge 285 profile tyre and the rear 0.5 inches wider than the GTB.
Production was limited to 599 cars. Of these, approximately 125 were produced for the United States market. Ferrari has given only two other models the GTO designation: the 1962 250 GTO and the 1984 288 GTO.

It seems quite incredible that this front engined V12 GT car is perfectly at home on the road and comfortable to use on a daily basis yet can lap Fiorano faster than an Enzo, sure fire proof that it deserves to wear every letter of the iconic GTO badge.

INTERIOR

The cabin is beautifully appointed and fit for both GT cruising and track use. Lashings of carbon fibre cover the dash, door cards and centre console while being complemented with high tech fabric meticulously stitched together using the finest Italian red thread. Red stitched prancing horses on the headrests and a yellow rev counter complete the neatly and well thought out colour code package.

The interior is unmarked and like new in every sense, the owners careful car usage and utmost care shown by the still covered kick plate in the drivers foot well still in its plastic protection from factory.
