Seller's Description
In 1967, the heart of the Ford/Ferrari Battle, the Ferrari P4s humiliated the factory Ford GT MKIIs at the Daytona 24h finishing 1-2-3, a fabulous victory and a revenge against the Ford’s famous victory at 1966 Le Mans 24h. When the new Ferrari appeared in 1968, the “365 GTB/4”, it was immediately given the unofficial nick name “Daytona” to celebrate this major racing achievement. Designed at Pininfarina by Leonardo Fioravanti, the new Ferrari was built on a 4,4liter 4 cams engine, transaxle transmission and a much modernised chassis compared to the 275 GTB/4. This very high performance Grand Toursim offers a lot of safety to its driver, especially at high speed due to a perfectly balanced weight. The 352 HP engine allowed the Daytona to run the standing km in only 24sec and 280km/h as top speed. This superb and iconic Ferrari was built from 1968 to 1973 in only 1284 example.
This excellent example, chassis number 17019, is fully matching to its building sheet having been ordered with 106-G-29 "Verde Medio" paint, Testa di Moro VM 890 interior, engine 2916, gearbox 1377 and Scocca 1365. It should also be noted that only 7 cars were ordered into Verde Medio color and this is the 14th by the end Daytona built. Though quite unusual, the color combination of Green and brown magnificently suits the car. It has been sold new in France via Pozzi and had two owners prior to being sold to Italy and registered in Milano in 1993. It was then kept by the same owner until being sold and registered in 2013 in UK. In the last two years it undergone a major service on the engine, suspension, brakes and electrics. The bodywork was also totally resprayed to concourse condition and a new Windscreen fitted. It also received a very discreet electric power steering which is a must on such a car, immensely enhancing the handling and driving pleasure. This is a superb driver with a lot of power, excellent handling and brakes. 17019 is a fantastic opportunity to acquire an extremely original example, in perfect condition and fabulous color combination.
