Seller's description

In 1880 the Dutch company was founded by the brothers Hendrik-Jan and Jacobus Spijker from Hilversum.
Originally blacksmits, the company successfully manufactured carriages, The royal golden carriage, still used by the Dutch Royal Family, was built by the brothers Spijker. After purchasing a Benz car, Spijker decided to manufacture automobiles.
In 1899 Spijker was licensed to assemble Benz cars under the name Spijker-Benz.
In 1903, the name Spijker was changed to the more international appearing Spyker.
That year, Spyker built the first car with permanent four-wheel drive and six cylinder engine.
In 1907 a Spyker finished second of the four participating cars during the Peking-to-Paris rally.
When the demand for cars declined significantly during the Great War, the company decided to produce aircrafts. In total 3000 aircrafts were made by Spyker. On the 6th of July 1922 Spyker went bankrupt. After a new start it became clear that the Dutch automobile manufacturer could not keep up with its U.S. rivals. In 1926 the company seized for a long time.
In 1999, Dutch businessman Victor Muller and engineer Maarten de Bruijn registered the Spyker brand. Again it became a symbol of exclusive sports car. The Latin moto of the company is still the same as 100 years ago: “nulla tenaci invia est via” (no road is impassable for those who persevere). On 17 October 2000, after an absence of 75 years, Spyker presented the new C8 Spyder at the Birmingham Motor Show. At this point (2015) the future of Spyker is uncertain due to problems after the acquisition of Sweden’s Saab.
The C8 Aileron (2008) with its aluminium space frame, comes with a directly behind the cabin mounted 4.2 liter, 4163 cc V8 Audi engine (7200 rpm) that produced 400 hp. Good for a top speed of 187 mph (300 km / h). Like the name Aileron (French for little wing, the “flaps” on an airplane wing) many design details of the Spyker remind of the aircraft industry in olden times. Even the cabin where the driver and passenger are seated, with its spectacular panoramic roof and vertical pedals, is reminiscent of the cockpit of an airplane. The turbine shaped air inlets enhance this effect. The dashboard of the Spyker is outright spectacular; starting the engine initiates a sort of pre-flight check!
The Spyker C8 Aileron on offer at “Classic Youngtimers Consultancy” was the 1st built for clients in 2011 and features a wide range options, such as: the automatic gearbox with six positions and dashboard in brushed aluminium with instruments in the highly recognizable Chronoswiss finish.
The seats are upholstered in quilted leather in a warm deep brown shade (Tobacco) that combines perfectly with the Glacier White paint. Furthermore, the car is equipped with the optional rear parking sensors and the Front Lift System to eliminate obstacles like speed bumps.
This Spyker C8 Aileron has been well looked after and maintained by Spyker!
